No Really? What is KONY2012?

Have you seen this yet…KONY2012? It’s been all over the Twitterverse today and yesterday. Of course when you see something so prevalent, ie: trending topic on Twitter, you have to wonder what all the talk is about. So Like any other red-blooded curious human I had to take a look for myself. What is KONY2012?

When I watched the video the images of children in Africa moved me to tears. The thought of all the children who are suffering at the hands of adults is always a sensitive spot for me. The horrific things that humans do to each is unconscionable.

But this short film has many more levels in it’s plea to help the children of Uganda. The filmmaker and organization behind the film propose solutions to help stop the man responsible for the genocide that took place in Uganda. The first order of business a video campaign to raise awareness about Joseph Kony.

But how effective will the “social experiment” be in the long run? Can one person’s effort really bring down a warlord half the globe away? Only time will tell. It’s very interesting. If only it serve as a lesson that one person can get the word out to millions of people, I think the author served that purpose.
